A significant structural overhaul has given rise to the Compagnie Nationale de Transport (CNT), a new entity formed through the strategic integration of Trans’Urb and SOGATRA. This ambitious initiative, championed by President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, aims to equip Gabon with a contemporary, dependable, and easily accessible public transport system. More than just a reorganization, the CNT embodies a refined vision for public service, emphasizing resource optimization and an enhanced user experience across the nation.

A commitment to social welfare and a modernized fleet

One of the immediate successes of this consolidation is its human-centric approach. The reform has safeguarded 1,303 jobs, ensuring vital social stability for many families. Beyond merely maintaining the status quo, the company is dedicated to professional development; over 200 drivers have already undergone specialized training in road safety protocols and customer service excellence.

Operationally, the CNT is deploying an initial fleet of 142 brand-new buses. Within Grand Libreville, this translates to 28 active routes connecting 609 distinct stops. The interior regions of Gabon are also benefiting, with seven interurban services already operational, progressively expanding the national network. For commuters, the advantages are tangible: reduced waiting times, more frequent rotations, and a safer alternative to informal transport options.

Advanced technical infrastructure to support operations

To underpin this ambitious transformation, the former SOGATRA technical base has undergone a complete modernization, spearheaded by the Minister of State for Transport, Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi. Enhanced maintenance workshops, upgraded technical inspection pits, and reconfigured parking areas are now equipped to accommodate the new fleet under optimal conditions.

A significant technological advancement is the integration of a real-time supervision and regulation control room. This central hub provides continuous monitoring of all buses, ensuring immediate responsiveness to any traffic disruptions or operational challenges.

Forging a path towards a sustainable economic model

The CNT marks a departure from previous paradigms by adopting a financially sound operational model. Revenue generated from ticket sales will be directly reinvested into the stringent maintenance of vehicles, ongoing upkeep, and the eventual renewal of the fleet, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Through this extensive transformation, the Gabonese government reaffirms its commitment to leveraging mobility as a powerful catalyst for social inclusion and economic progress, fundamentally improving the daily lives of all Gabonese citizens.
