This document was developed in anticipation of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) for Niger, set to take place in April-May 2026. Amnesty International uses this submission to measure the progress made on previous recommendations, specifically focusing on issues like arbitrary imprisonment, unlawful detentions, the protection of human rights advocates, and the liberty of the media.

Additionally, the report scrutinizes the domestic framework for human rights as it pertains to the rights of free expression and journalistic freedom.
