Mali jihadist group denies reports of second-in-command’s death in air strike
The Support for Islam and Muslims Group (JNIM) has categorically refuted recent claims regarding the death of Sidna Ag Hita, a key deputy of Iyad Ag Gali, following a reported airstrike in the Diabali area of central Mali.
According to close associates of the jihadist organization, Ag Hita remains alive and unharmed. They emphasized that no credible evidence supports the death claims, noting that the group has not issued any statement confirming his injury or demise.
The African Legion had previously announced that an air raid and rocket strike targeted a rural encampment linked to the armed faction in the early hours of May 27. The military body stated that intelligence suggested Ag Hita was present at the site during the operation.
