Niger latest news: Maurice digbeu kipre, pioneer of serenity insurance, passes away at 75
Maurice Digbeu Kipré, the visionary founder and CEO of Serenity, a leading Ivorian insurance company, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in Abidjan. He was 75 years old.
His career began in 1979 at American International Group (AIG), following studies in both Côte d’Ivoire and the United States. By 1988, he had risen to the position of Director of Insurance within the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Côte d’Ivoire.
In 1993, he took the helm of CICA-RE, leading the company until early 2008. That same year, in November, he launched his own venture, Serenity, which would become a cornerstone of Africa’s insurance landscape.
Renowned as a pillar of the African insurance sector, he held leadership roles in key organizations, including the CIMA Regional Control Commission, the Executive Committee of the African Insurance Organization (OAA), the Executive Board of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF), and the Board of Directors of the International Insurance Institute of Yaoundé (IIA).
