CEPP : Ousmane Sonko hérite d’un nouveau poste de prestige

The newly established Committee for Public Policy Evaluation (CEPP) is tasked with structuring, guiding, and monitoring parliamentary assessments of public policies. Its core objective is to bolster oversight of government actions and enhance the effectiveness of implemented policies.

The National Assembly has marked a significant advance in strengthening parliamentary scrutiny. On Friday, August 21, 2026, members of parliament convened for the inaugural meeting of the Committee for Public Policy Evaluation (CEPP), focusing on its official establishment and the election of its executive board.

This inauguration represents a pivotal moment in Senegalese parliamentary life. Envisioned since the constitutional revision of 2016, the evaluation of public policies is now fully operational within the National Assembly. The CEPP’s mandate specifically involves organizing, executing, and overseeing parliamentary evaluations of public policies, thereby strengthening the monitoring of public administration and improving policy outcomes.

Composition of the Committee for Public Policy Evaluation

The committee comprises several key figures: the President of the National Assembly, the leaders of parliamentary groups, the representative for non-registered deputies, the chairs of the 14 permanent commissions, and an additional nine deputies along with their alternates. These nine members are appointed proportionally based on the officially constituted parliamentary groups, also incorporating recommendations from non-registered deputies.

Following this initial assembly, the CEPP’s Bureau was officially established. Ousmane Sonko, who serves as the President of the National Assembly, has taken on the crucial role of the committee’s president. He is supported by Mohamed Sall, appointed as the first vice-president, and Djimo Souaré, who assumes the position of second vice-president. Béatrice Germaine Faye has been designated as the first secretary, with Adama Diallo named as the second secretary.

Through the formal establishment of this committee, the National Assembly aims to provide a tangible framework for parliamentary evaluation of public policies, thereby reinforcing its pivotal role in overseeing governmental activities.
