RDPC spokesman André Luther Meka has publicly condemned the French language skills displayed by Mamadou Mota, Vice-President of the opposition Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), during a recent television appearance.
The controversy unfolded on Sunday, June 28, 2026, during Mota’s appearance on the talk show “La Vérité en face” broadcast on Équinoxe TV.
In a scathing post on social media, Meka expressed his outrage at what he described as a ‘barbaric assault’ on the French language, citing Mota’s poor grasp of syntax and conceptual mastery. He went so far as to compare the performance to a ‘massacre of the language of Ronsard and Lamartine’, reaching what he termed the ‘height of mediocrity’.
During the show, Mamadou Mota defended the return of Maurice Kamto to the presidency of the MRC, despite internal dissent led by figures such as Willy Mengue.
