Tiassalé’s mayor unveils free weekend transport initiative
Antoine Assalé Tiémoko, the visionary mayor of Tiassalé, a vibrant and diverse city approximately 120 kilometers from Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, has revealed plans to introduce complimentary communal transport services during weekends within the locality.
This innovative program is slated for implementation starting in late 2026, with an initial pilot phase designed to ensure a smooth rollout.
“This measure forms part of a broader strategy to reallocate the commune’s financial assets, especially its own funds derived from municipal taxes, which have seen a remarkable increase from 24 million FCFA in 2019 to 91 million in 2025, with projections reaching 100 million in 2026,” Mayor Assalé explained in an official statement shared on his Meta account.
The groundbreaking announcement of this initiative took place on Friday, May 22, 2026, during the 11th annual accountability day event held in the marriage hall of Tiassalé.
Assalé Tiémoko is a prominent figure, known for his dual roles as a politician and a journalist. He currently serves as the mayor of the Tiassalé commune and chairs the political movement named ‘Aujourd’hui et demain, la Côte d’Ivoire’ (ADCI).
