The United States and Bénin have reaffirmed their strategic alliance during a high-level meeting at the Pentagon, focusing on military collaboration and regional stability in the face of transnational threats.
The United States and Bénin have unequivocally reaffirmed their strong strategic partnership in defense matters. At the Pentagon, General Christopher J. Mahoney, Vice Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, engaged in comprehensive discussions with Major General Fructueux Gbaguidi, Chief of Staff of the Béninese Armed Forces.
These pivotal talks centered on joint security initiatives and the crucial military assistance provided by Washington, primarily channeled through the U.S. Africa Command (Africom). Both senior military leaders underscored the indispensable role of a stable, secure, and democratic Bénin in fostering broader regional peace and security.
They articulated a firm commitment to bolster their military collaboration and to work in concert with other regional allies. This intensified cooperation aims to effectively counter evolving transnational threats and ensure enduring stability across the region.
