The captain of Olympique Lyonnais, Wendie Renard, did not mince her words following the heavy 4-0 defeat against Barcelona in the Women’s Champions League final on Saturday.

Wendie Renard (OL captain after defeat to Barcelona): «The scoreline is tough, but in my view, it doesn’t reflect the match’s flow at all. Barcelona were clinical when it mattered. Congratulations to them—they’re world-class players. Finals are evenly matched battles; at key moments, they struck hard and efficiently. We lacked that killer instinct in front of goal, and we were punished for it. After the third and fourth goals, we pushed hard in the closing stages, but they countered effectively. That’s football—we must learn, adapt, and keep working.»
