75 Ivorian education inspectors trained in digital teaching tools to modernize schools
As part of Côte d’Ivoire’s digital education transformation, 75 pedagogical inspectors from 25 regional directorates completed a three-day training workshop in Yamoussoukro from May 4 to 6, 2026. Organized by UNESCO and Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Education through the Directorate of Technologies and Information Systems, this initiative strengthens the digital skills of education leaders.
This training marks the second phase of the Digital Skills Development Project for Education Leaders and Teachers (DCNPEE), following an initial cohort of 43 inspectors trained in phase one. The initiative directly supports Côte d’Ivoire’s National Digital Education Strategy (SNDECI 2024-2028), demonstrating the country’s commitment to equitable digital education access across all regions.
Participants included pedagogical inspectors specializing in Mathematics, Life and Earth Sciences (SVT), and Physics-Chemistry. The workshop focused on practical digital tools including interactive content creation, presentation software, and artificial intelligence applications to enhance teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
Over three intensive days, inspectors developed competencies in digital content development and AI-powered teaching methods. The training emphasized creating more interactive learning experiences while maintaining educational quality standards. Participants gained hands-on experience with digital platforms that will enable them to better support teachers in their respective regions.
Training participants praised the relevance of the modules, noting their immediate applicability to current educational challenges. UNESCO and DTSI representatives highlighted the inspectors’ crucial role as digital transformation ambassadors who will cascade these new skills to teachers nationwide.
This milestone represents significant progress in the DCNPEE 2 project, funded by GIZ. The next major initiative will focus on strengthening IT management capacities, bringing Côte d’Ivoire closer to its vision of a modern, inclusive, and high-performing school system.
