Algeria and Chad bolster infrastructure cooperation for trans-saharan road
In a significant step towards enhanced regional development, Algeria and Chad officially inked an agreement in N’Djamena this past Thursday. The accord is designed to streamline and expedite the execution of collaborative projects in public works and vital infrastructure. This initiative underscores a reinforced partnership between the two nations, aiming to fast-track the implementation of commitments originally made in April.
The pivotal document bears the signatures of Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Disenclavement, and Road Maintenance, Amir Idriss Kourda. Their signing occurred on the sidelines of a crucial coordination meeting held in N’Djamena, marking the second day of a working visit by an Algerian delegation to Chad.
The high-level gathering saw participation from several key figures, including the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and senior representatives from the Cosider group and the National Public Works Company (SNTP). On the Chadian side, the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure, alongside numerous senior executives, also attended the discussions.
During the session, the Chadian Minister underscored the “rapid momentum” observed in the execution of bilateral agreements. He lauded the tangible progress achieved on the ground since the initial agreements were signed on April 22nd in Algiers, specifically highlighting reciprocal technical visits and the commencement of feasibility studies for the ambitious Trans-Saharan Road project as it traverses Chadian territory.
