Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, mandated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, began an official visit to Chad on Monday aimed at reinforcing fraternal ties and deepening bilateral cooperation and partnership.

The prime minister is accompanied by Minister of State and Hydrocarbons Minister Mohamed Arkab, Energy and Renewable Energies Minister Mourad Adjal, and the director general of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Abed Hallouz, along with several heads of national enterprises active in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity.

Upon his arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the prime minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart, Head of Government Allamaye Halina, accompanied by several members of the Chadian government and senior officials.

Following the welcome ceremony, the prime minister and his Chadian counterpart held a bilateral working session to review the progress of the distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad. They exchanged views on how to give new momentum to bilateral cooperation and broaden its scope, reflecting the shared will of both countries’ leaders to elevate fraternal and cooperative ties to wider horizons serving the common interests of their brotherly peoples.

Groundbreaking ceremony for a 40-megawatt power plant in N’Djamena

During this visit, the prime minister, accompanied by his Chadian counterpart, will preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for an Algerian-Chadian solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone in N’Djamena, with a capacity of 40 megawatts. This project will be carried out by Sonelgaz International under a donation from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to sisterly Chad, following the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and reaffirming Algeria’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable development processes in brotherly African countries while strengthening the values of African solidarity and cooperation through structural projects with a direct impact on economic and social development.

The prime minister will also hold consultations with the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, on ways to enhance the Algerian-Chadian partnership and on major regional and African issues of mutual interest.

This visit of the prime minister to Chad is part of the positive and growing dynamic of Algerian-Chadian relations, realizing the common will of both countries’ leaders to raise bilateral cooperation to higher levels and strengthen economic and development partnership.
