The Republic of Bénin and the Kingdom of Morocco have expressed mutual satisfaction with the progress of their bilateral cooperation during a high-level meeting in Cotonou. Beyond reviewing achievements, both nations are actively seeking to deepen and expand their collaboration across new horizons.

During preparatory discussions ahead of co-chairing the 7th session of the Morocco-Bénin Joint Cooperation Commission, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, met with Bénin’s delegation led by Corinne Amori Brunet, Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Afro-descendant Integration, and Hugues Oscar Lokossou, Minister Delegate for Resource Mobilization and Debt Management.

Participants highlighted significant advancements in key sectors since King Mohammed VI’s historic visit to Cotonou in June 2004. The talks underscored not only the depth of diplomatic ties but also the strong personal rapport between King Mohammed VI and Bénin’s President Romuald Wadagni. Both sides reaffirmed their shared vision to elevate Bénin-Morocco relations into a leading example of inter-African partnership, rooted in solidarity, exchange, and mutual growth.

Expanding cooperation into high-potential sectors

The discussions identified a wide array of promising areas for collaboration, including:
