Diplomatic relations between Burkina Faso and Serbia have taken a significant step forward with a high-level meeting in Ouagadougou. On June 3, 2026, a delegation of Serbian lawmakers led by Slavenko Ristic, head of the country’s Defense and Security Committee, engaged in discussions with Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré and his deputy, Bêbgnasgnan Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré.

The visit, part of a broader effort to explore new partnership opportunities, focused on defense, security, and training collaborations. The delegation’s agenda underscored Serbia’s growing interest in strengthening ties with African nations, particularly in sectors where both countries see mutual benefit.
