Burkina Faso ends diplomatic ties with France
Tensions between France and Burkina Faso had been steadily escalating for several months. On June 26, the government in Ouagadougou decisively clarified its stance regarding the former colonial power, announcing the immediate severance of diplomatic relations with Paris. This significant development mandates that France must close its chancellery within one week. The pivotal decision was formally communicated through a statement broadcast on the national airwaves of Radiodiffusion – Télévision du Burkina (RTB), marking a new chapter in the complex relationship between the two nations.
