Following Chad’s participation in the National Unity Day parade, Cameroon and Chad are taking concrete steps to deepen their military cooperation.
On the heels of the 54th National Unity Day celebrations, Cameroon and Chad reaffirmed the strength of their military and diplomatic partnership. Cameroon’s Minister Delegate to the Presidency in charge of Defense, Mr. Beti Assomo Joseph, hosted Chadian Minister of National Defense, General Issakha Malloua Djamous, for a working session in Yaoundé on May 21, 2026.
The meeting, held in the Ministry of Defense’s conference room, focused on reinforcing bilateral ties built on shared security interests and long-standing military cooperation. According to the Ministry of Defense’s communications team, both nations are committed to addressing regional security challenges together.
Led by General Issakha Malloua Djamous, the Chadian delegation was received with mutual respect and warmth. Discussions centered on strengthening defense cooperation between Cameroon and Chad’s armed forces and addressing common security threats in the subregion.
The meeting highlighted the alignment between Yaoundé and N’Djamena on key strategic issues. Both officials emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to bolster regional stability and security.
As a special guest during Cameroon’s 54th National Unity Day, Chad’s National and Nomadic Guard contingent delivered a standout performance during the parade on Yaoundé’s 20 May Boulevard. Their participation symbolized the enduring bond of military cooperation and fraternity between the two nations.
Beyond military matters, the meeting underscored the commitment of Cameroonian and Chadian authorities to nurture the close ties between their peoples. Through this engagement, Cameroon reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening strategic partnerships with neighboring countries in a spirit of peace, security, and African integration.
