Chad to lift visa requirements for all africans in 2027

In a bold move to foster continental unity, the Republic of Chad will abolish visa requirements for all African travelers starting January 1, 2027. President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno unveiled this historic decision during the African Water Forum in N’Djamena, emphasizing Chad’s commitment to seamless mobility and regional integration.

The announcement, made before heads of state and global dignitaries, underscores Chad’s strategic vision as a bridge between Africa’s diverse regions. Speaking at the event, the president highlighted the nation’s role as a crossroads of human connections, linking West and East, North and South, while reaffirming its dedication to African solidarity.

« Chad, the cradle of humankind at the heart of Toumaï, stands today as a gateway for all Africans, » he declared. « From this pivotal moment forward, our borders will welcome every traveler from the continent without the burden of visas. »

This progressive policy positions Chad among the continent’s trailblazers in visa liberalization, joining nations like Benin, Togo, Rwanda, Ghana, Gambia, Seychelles, and Congo, which have already taken similar steps. The move is expected to boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchange across Africa, reinforcing Chad’s reputation as a welcoming and forward-thinking nation.

With this reform, Chad reaffirms its leadership in promoting Africa’s shared future, where borders serve as bridges rather than barriers.
