Chadian security ministry boosts protection for tabaski celebrations

General Ali Ahmat Aghabache, Chad’s Minister of Public Security and Immigration, issued a directive on May 25, 2026, ordering security forces to intensify vigilance at public venues and religious sites throughout the Tabaski period.

Through an official communiqué, General Aghabache instructed relevant agencies to implement comprehensive measures and maintain maximum alertness. This directive aims to safeguard mosques, churches, and various other places of worship, alongside markets, government buildings, and all public gathering areas during the Tabaski celebrations.

The document specifically underscores the critical importance of strictly enforcing these security protocols for the duration of the entire festive holiday.

Tabaski, also known as Eid al-Adha, stands as one of Islam’s most significant observances. It is traditionally marked by extensive communal prayers, ritual animal sacrifices, and numerous family and community gatherings. This festive season typically sees a considerable increase in visitors to both religious establishments and marketplaces.

These directives are issued against a backdrop of persistent regional security challenges. The primary objective behind strengthening these security arrangements is to preempt any potential incidents that could disrupt the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Tabaski festivities.
