Chelsea Football Club has confirmed the acquisition of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, marking a significant boost for the Blues ahead of the upcoming season.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has inked a long-term deal with Stamford Bridge, committing his future to the club until 2033. Rogers will join Xabi Alonso’s squad before the new campaign kicks off, following a highly competitive transfer race.

Rogers arrives at Chelsea after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising young offensive talents. During his time at Aston Villa, he contributed 40 goals in 85 league appearances, helping the Villans secure a fourth-place finish in the English top flight and lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy last season.

His impact has also been felt on the international stage. Since making his England debut in November 2024, Rogers has become a regular starter for the Three Lions, earning 22 caps and representing his country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where England finished in third place.

The transfer, reported to be valued at €117 million (£138 million), makes Rogers the second most expensive signing in Premier League history. Only Alexander Isak’s move from Newcastle to Liverpool last summer, for a reported £125 million, surpasses this fee.

Chelsea moved swiftly to secure Rogers after intense competition from Arsenal, who had been the early frontrunners in the race for the young star. The Blues took decisive action, finalizing the deal before their rivals could react. In a celebratory post on X, Chelsea shared a video of Rogers with the caption: ‘He chose Chelsea.’
