Clandestine slaughter network dismantled in N’Djamena
A coordinated operation uncovered a clandestine slaughter ring in N’Djamena, seizing over 100 diseased cattle and 40 sheep. Authorities are taking urgent steps to safeguard public health.
In a decisive crackdown ahead of Tabaski festivities, a joint task force comprising the Ministry of Livestock, the Sanitary Police Coordination, and security forces raided a hidden operation in N’Djamena’s Machaga district. Authorities discovered and seized more than 100 cattle and 40 sheep in critical health, all slated for illegal distribution as charitable donations during the holiday. The animals had been procured through an international NGO with local accomplices facilitating the scheme.
The following day, Dr. Ousmane Yosko Souhoumi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Livestock and Animal Production, personally inspected the site. Upon confirming the violations, he issued strict directives: deceased animals must be incinerated immediately; salvageable livestock must receive urgent veterinary care; and heightened surveillance is required to protect public health.
