Dncg imposes salary cap and transfer fee limits on om, ol stays in ligue 1
Both clubs were under close watch, and the verdict has arrived. This Friday, the DNCG announced the restrictions that Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais must follow during the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 season. For the Phocaeans, the LFP’s financial watchdog ruled for a “salary cap and transfer fee limits.”
The Gones, meanwhile, face a “salary cap based on the recovery budget following the club’s change of control.” This decision comes after the professional clubs control commission examined the clubs’ situations for the upcoming season. During a press conference, Michele Kang confirmed that Lyon will remain in Ligue 1 and that she is becoming the majority shareholder of the Rhône club.
Om already sanctioned by uefa
For OM, this decision comes less than ten days after UEFA imposed a €10 million fine for breaching financial fair-play rules. The Marseille side knew they were in the crosshairs of French football’s financial police.
The DNCG had announced on Tuesday that it had requested “additional information” from the Marseille club, whose finances have been weakened by a difficult 2025-2026 season on all fronts. In 2021 and again in 2023, the Olympian club had already been subjected to a salary cap.
