German Ambassador Christian Sedat met Archbishop Samuel Kleda of Douala in a courtesy call on June 30, 2026, to discuss the Pope’s recent visit to Cameroon.
Diplomatic engagement in Cameroon’s economic hub saw the German envoy visiting the Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral. During the meeting, Ambassador Sedat was received by the Archbishop and toured the cathedral, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. The German embassy’s Facebook post highlighted the significance of the visit, emphasizing dialogue and collaboration between Germany, Cameroon, and the Catholic Church.

Christian Sedat, a seasoned German diplomat, has served as Germany’s Ambassador to Cameroon since July 2025. Based in Yaoundé, he brings extensive experience from central offices of the German Foreign Ministry and diplomatic missions worldwide, including South Sudan (2023–2025).
Promoting social and economic cooperation
Prior to his assignment in Cameroon, Sedat served as Germany’s Ambassador to Juba. His career includes postings at the German Embassy in London and Washington, D.C. (2009–2013), and as Deputy Head of Mission in Mauritania (2005–2008).
Since taking up his post in Yaoundé, he has been advancing key priorities of German-Cameroonian cooperation. His work focuses on deepening economic ties, development cooperation, cultural dialogue—especially regarding colonial-era cultural and heritage issues—and supporting grassroots social projects, including public health micro-initiatives.
