Ivory coast reaffirms strong support for Morocco’s african initiatives

The Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kacou Adom, reinforced Côte d’Ivoire’s unwavering commitment to Morocco’s royal initiatives during a high-level meeting in Rabat on Thursday.

«Côte d’Ivoire fully endorses these initiatives and stands alongside Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in line with His Majesty’s vision», Adom stated following his discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

Highlighting the depth of bilateral cooperation, the Ivorian diplomat emphasized the active role of Morocco’s private sector in driving economic growth in Côte d’Ivoire. «The Moroccan private sector is highly dynamic in Côte d’Ivoire, contributing significantly to the country’s economic development», he noted.

Both parties agreed to reconvene to assess progress within the Economic Impetus Group, aiming to enhance its dynamism and push for even greater collaboration. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita reciprocated with gratitude for Côte d’Ivoire’s steadfast stance on Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.

«Côte d’Ivoire has consistently been a strong partner and ally to Morocco on this pivotal issue», Bourita affirmed. He added that His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and civil society hold this position in high regard.

Bourita went on to describe Côte d’Ivoire as «a key bilateral partner for Morocco, both in Africa and beyond». He also praised Côte d’Ivoire’s pivotal role in advancing Morocco’s royal initiatives, including the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline to Europe—a project of particular importance to His Majesty.

«This pipeline is advancing rapidly toward realization, particularly after the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) approved the intergovernmental agreement», he explained.

The Rabat-Abidjan partnership continues to grow stronger, grounded in political alignment, economic synergy, and regional collaboration. From unwavering support for Morocco’s Sahara sovereignty to active participation in continental projects, Côte d’Ivoire remains a cornerstone of Morocco’s strategic alliances in Africa.
