Mali has been embroiled for years in a profound security and political crisis, a protracted period of instability that continues to challenge the nation’s future.

The security crisis is exacerbated by relentless assaults from jihadist and separatist armed groups. A particularly notable incident occurred on April 25, when the capital, Bamako, was targeted in an attack that tragically claimed the life of Defense Minister Sadio Camara, among others.

Parallel to this, Mali faces a deep political crisis. The military leadership has maintained an unchallenged grip on power since the coups d’état of 2020 and 2021, leading to the suspension of political party activities and a concentration of authority.
