Marquinhos reflects on psg’s ligue 1 season and champions league final preparations
In a match devoid of significant stakes, Paris Saint-Germain faced a 2-1 defeat against Paris FC during the 34th and final matchday of the Ligue 1 season. The focus for PSG now shifts entirely towards the eagerly anticipated Champions League final.
Concluding their Ligue 1 campaign, PSG suffered a 2-1 loss to Paris FC on their home turf. Following the fixture, Marquinhos, the esteemed Parisian captain, offered his insights on the defeat and provided a comprehensive overview of the Ligue 1 season, all while looking ahead to the pinnacle event: the Champions League final.
“We have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for our ultimate objective”
“We also consider the entire situation. Everything that occurs here, especially in a defeat, presents opportunities for us to learn and improve. It’s undeniable that we didn’t perform as required today. We needed to do better, particularly in the first half where we simply weren’t at our usual standard. We did manage to score in the second half, but we must keep pushing forward,” stated the PSG captain. “We now have a crucial two-week period to meticulously prepare for this final objective that lies before us. The celebration was good; given the circumstances, it was the only fitting thing to do. We celebrated our title, a trophy we worked tirelessly for throughout the entire year. This league is exceptionally challenging to win, especially this season. We are approaching the end of the season with numerous challenges still ahead for us. Reaching a Champions League final is truly one of the greatest accomplishments one can achieve in a season. To play in a final – this marks my third here in Paris over 13 years – underscores just how difficult it is to reach this stage. It’s an exhilarating end to the season. Even with today’s loss, we will extract valuable lessons for improvement. I am confident our coach will be pushing us rigorously over these next two weeks to ensure we are at our absolute best for the Champions League final.”
