The commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art annex for the Directorate-General for Counter-Espionage and Military Security (DGCISM)—commonly known as the B2—on 13 August 2026. The three-storey, 900 m² facility, located in the Bellevue 1 district of Libreville’s third arrondissement, represents a decisive upgrade in Gabon’s intelligence capabilities.

Purpose-built infrastructure for intelligence excellence

The new annex was designed from the ground up to meet the strictest standards of confidentiality and operational security. Its layout streamlines internal workflows across three dedicated levels: judicial investigations occupy the ground floor, military security teams work on the first level, and the Directorate-General commands the second storey. The building’s modern design reinforces the B2’s mission to protect national interests.

A strategic asset for the defence community

Addressing assembled civil and military leaders, Colonel Joseph Ondo Be, head of the DGCISM, praised the investment as a strategic asset that will markedly improve working conditions for intelligence personnel. “This annex is only the beginning,” he stated. “We will now focus on upgrading the main headquarters, modernising provincial outposts, and renewing our vehicle fleet to maintain operational readiness.”

Renewed vow to defend the Republic

The inauguration concluded with a solemn ceremony in which every member of the DGCISM pledged renewed allegiance to Gabon’s institutions. In a climate of heightened political and regional security challenges, the event underscored the agency’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding national sovereignty.
