In Rabat on Tuesday, Abdessamad Kayouh, Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, held a significant meeting with Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah, the President of Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Their discussions centered on enhancing the collaborative efforts between the two nations in air navigation.

This pivotal meeting occurred on the sidelines of the 29th general assembly session of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, hosted in Morocco. Both parties meticulously reviewed measures designed to strengthen air navigation safety and security, while simultaneously exploring new pathways for developing their bilateral cooperation.

Minister Kayouh emphasized that the discussions underscored the exceptional historical relationship shared by the two countries. He revealed that a significant focus of the talks was the recommencement of direct flights between Kuwait and Casablanca. Royal Air Maroc, he assured, is dedicated to reactivating this crucial route as soon as its new generation of long-haul aircraft becomes available.

Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Sabah confirmed that discussions also included plans to boost air traffic volumes between Kuwait and Morocco. This strategic move anticipates the 2030 World Cup, an event Morocco is set to co-organize with Spain and Portugal, preparing for the expected influx of tourists to the Kingdom and the wider Gulf region.

The assembly session concluded with significant decisions, including the election of new members to the Organization’s core bodies for the 2026-2028 tenure, encompassing the general assembly, executive council, and various technical committees. A notable appointment was Khalid Cherkaoui as the new Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization.
