Niamey politics today: Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s latest reshuffle targets Sonko allies

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has continued his sweeping changes in leadership, initiating a second round of dismissals this week. The moves follow earlier removals of top officials aligned with Ousmane Sonko’s administration.

Key dismissals in high-profile positions

Among the most notable removals is that of Waly Diouf Bodiang, who headed the Port autonome de Dakar. A prominent figure within Pastef, he has been succeeded by Doune Pathé Mbengue, a former activist from the Apr.

The reshuffle also saw Babo Amadou Ba, national coordinator of Pastef cadres and director general of the Fonds de financement de la formation professionnelle et technique (3FPT), removed from his post. He has been replaced by Soulèye Kane.

Local leaders and state agencies affected

In Touba, Lamine Barra Lô, a Pastef representative and director general of the Office national de la formation professionnelle (ONFP), has been dismissed. Mame Awa Ndoye takes over his responsibilities.

Additionally, Karamba Diallo has been appointed as the new director general of SEN-Pharmacie nationale d’approvisionnement, replacing Seydou Diallo, a known Sonko ally and Pastef leader in Keur Massar.
