Cameroon’s public sector gears up for massive 2026 recruitment drive with 2,305 new positions
The Cameroonian government has officially unveiled a comprehensive recruitment campaign for 2026, targeting 2,305 vacancies across various state administrations. This initiative follows the publication of 36 ministerial decrees outlining participation guidelines, signed by the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, Joseph LE, on June 4.
In the announcement, detailed breakdowns reveal how these positions will be filled. Traditional recruitment pathways account for 890 openings: 470 via direct competitive exams for financial regulators, agriculture, mining, civil engineering, livestock, maritime fisheries, telecommunications, and public health sectors; 100 through training competitions at the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) and Youth and Sports National Centers (CENAJES); 220 through training competitions at the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM); and 100 through selective testing.
Special recruitment initiatives, mandated by the President, focus on critical sectors like health and education, offering 1,200 spots. This includes 1,000 openings for free auditors at teacher training colleges (ENS) and technical education institutions (ENSET), alongside 200 positions for specialist doctors. Complementing these are 920 additional healthcare roles announced in early April 2026. Candidates applying for free auditor positions must select their preferred teaching institution during application, with exams held at regional centers hosting their chosen schools.
The remaining 215 positions will be filled through professional competitive exams.
Notably, the 2026 recruitment drive represents a reduction of 555 posts compared to 2025, when 2,860 positions were opened for competitive examination.
