The LFP Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned OGC Nice with a penalty encompassing two full stadium closures and a one-match suspended ban for their Allianz Riviera ground. This decision follows significant disturbances, specifically citing « the use and throwing of pyrotechnic devices, pitch invasion, and damage at the final whistle » during the Nice-Metz fixture, which was the 34th and concluding matchday of Ligue 1.
This ruling directly impacts the crucial return leg of the promotion/relegation play-off against AS Saint-Étienne, scheduled for May 29th, as well as the club’s first home fixture of the upcoming season. However, the Riviera-based club has promptly announced its intention to appeal this decision, aiming to allow fans to attend the pivotal match against AS Saint-Étienne. Meanwhile, for the first leg of the play-off, taking place on May 26th at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Nice will be without the suspended Elye Wahi.
In related news, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) also faced sanctions, receiving a closure of the Auteuil stand at Parc des Princes. This penalty was issued for « the use of pyrotechnic devices and observed visual displays » and will take effect during their inaugural home Ligue 1 match of the 2026-2027 season.
The disciplinary case concerning FC Nantes, following a pitch invasion at Stade de la Beaujoire early in their match against Toulouse, remains pending and will be addressed at a later date.
