Ouagadougou and rome mark 80 years of italian republic, strengthening Burkina Faso partnership
The enduring bond of friendship and collaboration between Burkina Faso and Italy was powerfully underscored during the recent celebration of the Italian Republic’s 80th anniversary. This significant commemorative event, hosted by the Italian Embassy in Ouagadougou on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, brought together prominent Burkinabè officials, members of the diplomatic community, and Italian citizens residing in the country.
Attending on behalf of the Burkinabè government, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bêbgnasgnan Stella Eldine Kabré/Kaboré, participated in the festivities. The occasion was characterized by reflective moments, a spirit of fraternity, and a vibrant celebration of the deep historical ties uniting the two nations.

During his address, Gabriele Di Muzio, Italy’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, emphasized the exceptional quality of bilateral cooperation. He particularly highlighted the impactful initiatives spearheaded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

The ambassador reiterated Italy’s steadfast commitment to supporting Burkina Faso across crucial sectors, including stabilization efforts, humanitarian aid, and comprehensive socioeconomic development. « Our presence here is driven by the fundamental purpose of working for the benefit of the friendly Burkinabè people, » he affirmed. « We are dedicated to fostering a lasting partnership built upon shared values and mutual respect. »
Speaking for the Burkinabè authorities, Mme Kabré/Kaboré extended heartfelt congratulations from the President of Faso and the entire Burkinabè populace to the Italian community. She commended the dynamic nature of their cooperation, which is firmly rooted in solidarity, reciprocal trust, and a shared ambition for advancing development.

The Minister Delegate also drew attention to the significant investment prospects available within Burkina Faso’s various strategic sectors. She extended an invitation to Italian economic operators, encouraging them to leverage the supportive measures established by the Burkinabè government. This proactive engagement, she noted, would further enhance economic exchanges and cultivate stronger business partnerships between the two countries.
