Security assessment mission in the Nayala province of Burkina Faso
Acting on the directives of President Ibrahim Traoré, the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, conducted a comprehensive field visit to Nayala province this Sunday. The mission was designed to scrutinize the current security landscape, provide encouragement to the units deployed on the front lines, and engage directly with the local population regarding their primary concerns.
Strategic meetings in Toma and provincial hubs
Joined by the governor of the Bankui region and various local administrative figures, the Minister first held talks with the traditional leadership in Toma. Following this, he met with provincial administrative heads and service directors to discuss the operational realities of the region.
These dialogues highlighted several persistent obstacles, particularly within the healthcare and education sectors. Furthermore, the discussions touched upon the logistical difficulties faced by public officials when moving through certain parts of the province.
Support for defense forces and local volunteers
During his tour, Mahamadou Sana met with members of the Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS), the Volontaires pour la défense de la patrie (VDP), and the Dozos. He delivered a message of congratulations from the President of Faso and the government, praising their achievements in restoring safety and enabling the gradual return of displaced citizens to several villages previously impacted by instability.
The Minister paid tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the combat forces, urging them to remain highly vigilant and maintain strict discipline. He also stressed that a robust partnership between the civilian population and security forces is essential for solidifying the progress made in the fight against terrorism.

In the communes of Kougny and Gassan, residents expressed their appreciation for the government’s initiatives to restore order and support the resettlement of local communities. The atmosphere during these exchanges reflected a growing sense of relief among the people.
At the conclusion of his visit, Mahamadou Sana expressed his satisfaction with the tangible improvements in the security climate within Nayala.
