Senegal president Diomaye Faye unveils new political party

In Senegal, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially launched his new political party, marking a definitive break from the former Pastef – Les Patriotes, once led by his ally and ex-Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. The new movement, named Kiiraay – Les Patriotes républicains, derives its name from the Wolof term kiiraay, meaning “protection.” President Faye has committed to making protection the cornerstone of all his future political actions and decisions.
