Senegal’s prime minister Sonko faces lawmakers in accountability session
Government under scrutiny in quarterly parliamentary session
Dakar – This Thursday, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet will appear before lawmakers for a structured accountability exercise mandated by the Constitution. The session, held under Article 104 of the National Assembly’s rules of procedure, is designed to assess government performance and promote transparency in public sector operations.
The meeting is scheduled to run for 202 minutes and will address 14 key questions. The Pastef-Les patriotes parliamentary group—the ruling coalition—holds 10 of these questions, while the opposition Takku Wallu group has been allocated 2, and 2 are directed to independent deputies.
The session will be led by Ismaëla Diallo, First Vice-President of the National Assembly, marking the fifth such accountability meeting since the government took office.
The previous session of this nature took place on February 24, 2026.
