As of June 20, 2026, significant progress has been recorded in the Dja bridge project, with the structure’s supports nearing completion. Teams from CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY CAMEROUN are actively working to finalize the construction of this vital infrastructure.
Beyond the advanced state of the bridge supports, all complementary geotechnical studies have been successfully carried out, and the execution studies are now 60% complete. Furthermore, all 20 piles have been installed. The company has also initiated work on the access road on the Bissombo side, which includes the rebarring of the culvert abutments at PK 0+669, the placement of substitution material following the purging of the culvert at PK 0+818, and the crushing of 0/250 aggregates.
This ambitious project encompasses the construction of a 90-meter bridge and 3 kilometers of new access roads. Once completed, it will significantly enhance the connectivity along the Assok to Ngombo axis, located within the Déjà and Lobo department in Cameroon’s Southern region. The total investment for the Dja bridge component of the project is estimated at 10,530,686,344 FCFA, inclusive of all taxes.
In addition to the main bridge structure, the project includes the development of 1000 meters of access roads, with 500 meters extending from each side of the bridge. These roads will feature a two-lane carriageway with a total width of 7.00 meters, flanked by 1.50-meter wide shoulders finished with a bicouche surface dressing. The initiative also provides for the construction of essential drainage infrastructure, including two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 1.50, two culverts of type 2 x 2.00 x 2.00, and the establishment of an access dike along the riverbanks.
