Taxawu Sénégal becomes a political party as Khalifa Sall slams current leadership
During a major gathering at the Grand Théâtre in Dakar, the political movement Taxawu Sénégal, under the leadership of Khalifa Sall, officially transitioned into a structured political party. The constitutive congress was defined by a massive turnout of supporters who filled the venue with vibrant colors, placards, and enthusiastic chants, creating a powerful political atmosphere.
A gathering of influential political figures
The event drew a significant number of high-profile personalities, demonstrating the party’s growing influence. Among those in attendance were Bamba Fall, the mayor of Médina, Alioune Ndoye, the mayor of Dakar-Plateau, and Aïssata Tall Sall.
The assembly also saw the participation of Oumar Sarr, coordinator of the Front pour la République (FDR), Me El Hadji Diouf, and Zahara Kane Thiame, along with various other political leaders. According to the organizing committee, this congress served as a catalyst for expansion, with six political parties and several movements officially joining Taxawu Sénégal by signing the constitutive act.
Khalifa Sall delivers a sharp critique of the administration
In his closing remarks, Khalifa Sall described the congress as a “founding act” that formalizes the movement’s evolution. He painted a grim picture of the nation’s current state, asserting that Sénégal has reached the “20th basement,” a metaphor highlighting the severity of the country’s socio-economic challenges.
Directing his focus toward the current leadership, the head of Taxawu Sénégal launched a pointed attack: “They are playing the Baara Yegoo game… but we have seen through their strategy,” he declared, signaling a clear stance against the governing duo’s methods.
A call for unity within the opposition
Beyond his criticisms, Khalifa Sall emphasized the need for solidarity among those opposed to the current regime. He urged opposition forces to build a foundation of trust and cohesion to effectively address the political hurdles ahead.
Reflecting on the journey of Taxawu Sénégal, he acknowledged the path of trials, triumphs, and political realignments that led to this moment. He concluded by praising the unwavering dedication of the activists and the various groups that have now integrated into the newly formed party structure.
