Tchad advances freight digitalization with BNFT training completion
The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has finalized a key training program in N’Djamena to modernize land transport services through digital solutions.
The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has successfully concluded a three-day training program in N’Djamena dedicated to digitalizing land freight services. Held at the Kempinski Hotel in N’Djamena, the workshop brought together controllers and agents from N’Djamena and Mayo-Kebbi regions to explore cutting-edge digital tools designed to modernize Tchad’s land transport sector.
During the closing ceremony, the steering committee chair, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, commended participants for their active engagement throughout the program. He highlighted that several modules covering new technologies and digital freight management were covered, including digital interface access, freight declaration, transporter management, system configuration, and agency setup. Organizers emphasized that these tools will enhance administrative efficiency and improve real-time monitoring of field operations.
The BNFT president stressed that this initiative aligns with the government’s broader goal of modernizing public services and accelerating the country’s digital transformation. He noted that the mandatory Lettre de Voiture Obligatoire (LVO) and Taxe à l’Essieu (TAE) now require enhanced digital proficiency to ensure stricter transport activity oversight. Technical partners from TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO were recognized for their expertise and support during the training. Participants were encouraged to apply their newly acquired skills to drive the digitalization of Tchad’s land freight sector.
The steering committee’s General Director, Saleh Youssouf Erda, reaffirmed that the workshop focused on training agents, controllers, and representatives on using and monitoring the new e-BNFT digital platform. He described the initiative as a transformative shift from paper-based processes to a fully digitalized institutional framework. The e-BNFT platform will enable instant issuance and verification of critical documents such as LVO and TAE, while facilitating seamless, contactless processing of freight documents via computers or mobile devices.
Erda also underscored the platform’s role in securing state revenue and generating reliable statistical data for better national economic management. He emphasized that this digital transition reflects the administration’s modernization vision championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. Before concluding the workshop, he urged participants to actively use the platform daily to master its features and share their knowledge with colleagues who missed the training. The event concluded on a note of optimism, with a call to sustain efforts in overcoming digitalization challenges within public administration and land transport.
