The solemn opening session of the 51st General Assembly of the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly (FPA) took place on July 9 in Yaoundé, Cameroon. High-ranking officials including the President of the Senate, the President of the National Assembly, and the President of the Economic and Social Council of Cameroon were in attendance, alongside the Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo. Over 350 delegates participated, including nearly 20 presidents and vice-presidents of member parliaments, representatives from diplomatic missions, and international organisations.

This year’s agenda for the FPA’s General Assembly focuses on critical priorities such as governance, democracy, economic growth, social welfare, cultural exchange, and environmental sustainability. The discussions aim to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and address shared challenges facing the Francophone community.
