Air Sénégal has officially announced the acquisition of a new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, set to join its expanding fleet. This significant investment, fully supported by the Senegalese state, underscores a strategic commitment to national air sovereignty and enhancing the capabilities of the country’s flagship airline.

According to the General Directorate of Air Sénégal, this latest addition marks a pivotal moment in the company’s ongoing fleet modernization efforts and the broader expansion of its operations. The new aircraft is expected to substantially boost Air Sénégal’s operational capacity, further solidifying its presence across both regional and international aviation markets.

Mr. Tidiane Ndiaye, the Director General of Air Sénégal, expressed his gratitude for the state’s unwavering support. He highlighted that this acquisition reflects the government’s strong confidence in the airline’s vision and its considerable growth potential.

Beyond its commercial routes, the new Boeing 737-800 will undertake a unique and prestigious mission. It is slated to transport the flame for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, marking the first time such an Olympic event will be hosted on the African continent.
