Former Inter Miami midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi has finalized his permanent transfer to Parma, as the Serie A club exercised its purchase option for just under $5 million. The American talent featured in nine matches for the Italian side before a meniscus injury in March prematurely ended his season. This definitive departure provides the Herons with increased salary flexibility.
Parma secures talented midfielder
Following considerable speculation, Cremaschi is set to make a permanent home in Italy. The Serie A outfit triggered the €4 million clause to extend his loan agreement, which was originally slated to run until September 2025. An academy product of Inter Miami, the American midfielder was recognized as the Young Player of the Year in his country last season and boasts three caps for the national team.

A challenging start at Parma
Despite his arrival at the Italian club, Cremaschi found limited opportunities to showcase his abilities in a Parma jersey. Recruited shortly after the signing of Argentine international Rodrigo De Paul, the American struggled to regain optimal physical condition and match fitness. He made his debut in October, but subsequent appearances were sporadic before a knee injury in March brought his season to an abrupt end.
Departure from Miami driven by playing time
Cremaschi, a natural central midfielder, seemed unlikely to reintegrate into the Herons’ squad after expressing dissatisfaction with coach Javier Mascherano’s tactical choices. Utilized in various positions, his playing minutes dwindled, fueling his discontent.
“I am frustrated, I want to play,” Cremaschi stated last August. “The most important thing for me is to perform at a very high level, and to achieve that, I need playing time and experience. I have played very little in recent matches, and I don’t believe it’s due to my performance level.”
Shortly thereafter, the Miami club arranged his loan to provide him with the desired on-field experience.
Inter Miami poised for new signings
Cremaschi’s permanent departure is expected to significantly bolster the Herons’ transfer ambitions. The club is reportedly eyeing former Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, who is currently without a team. With one less midfielder on the roster and an additional squad spot, Inter Miami appears well-positioned to secure another high-profile acquisition.
