Bondoukou, Côte d’Ivoire — Alexis Adjoumani Kouadio, the departmental delegate for the National Youth Council of Côte d’Ivoire (CNJCI) in Bondoukou, recently called upon youth association leaders and representatives to adopt a responsible stance concerning political engagement. This appeal was made during a capacity-building workshop held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the regional headquarters of the Youth Directorate in Bondoukou.

The gathering, themed “Animating Associative Life and Youth Leaders in Politics: What Stance?”, aimed to cultivate a responsible youth population dedicated to peace and capable of fostering social cohesion amidst a sensitive socio-political landscape.

“Organizations such as the CNJCI are established to collaborate directly with government bodies. Every leader must understand their duties and uphold an exemplary conduct towards both the state and society,” stated Alexis Adjoumani Kouadio.

He further emphasized that youth organizations ought to remain vital frameworks for civic guidance and serve as key partners for public administration in promoting civility, constructive dialogue, and harmonious coexistence.

Kouacou Désiré, the regional director for the Ministry of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service of Gontougo, underscored the critical need to develop leaders who can effectively energize their respective associations while maintaining impartiality in the face of political tensions.

“Simply holding the title of association president is insufficient. One must breathe life into their organization, unite young people, and spearhead initiatives that genuinely contribute to the progress of our communities,” he asserted.

He explained that the workshop was also designed to enhance the capacities of associative actors in areas such as responsible leadership, effective dialogue, organizational management, and strategies for preventing political manipulation within youth movements.

Gnaihi Hugues, representing the Prefect of the Gontougo region and Bondoukou department, commended the initiative, recognizing its contribution to positioning youth as a crucial driver of social stability and development.

“Our nation’s youth represents an invaluable asset. They must serve as a catalyst for social cohesion, peace, and active civic participation,” he declared, encouraging attendees to fully absorb the insights shared during the various presentations.

The workshop featured several impactful sessions, including a presentation on animating associative life led by Jean Pierre Kouassi, a personal testimony on associative commitment from Gla Serge, and a panel discussion on the appropriate posture for youth leaders in politics, moderated by Pascal Kouamé.

This significant gathering, which also included the official introduction of the local CNJCI office, brought together numerous youth presidents from various neighborhoods and villages, associative leaders, student representatives, and other stakeholders actively involved in fostering civility and community leadership across the Gontougo region.
