Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallè Bibéhè, held productive discussions on May 13, 2026 with Chad’s Prime Minister Allamaye Halina in N’Djamena. The talks centered on enhancing the Douala-N’Djamena trade corridor, addressing persistent logistical hurdles, and resolving challenges faced by transporters.
The meeting followed the Tripartite Forum between Chad, Cameroon, and the Central African Republic. During the audience granted to the Cameroonian delegation, key officials from both countries examined critical transport sector issues, including implementation of recommendations from the 2024 Kribi forum, the status of the CamTchad joint venture, and transit efficiency along the trans-Cameroonian corridor.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to improving cross-border trade flows. The Cameroonian minister emphasized his government’s resolve to streamline goods transit to Chad. In response, Chad’s Prime Minister pledged to address the detention of Cameroonian drivers—commonly known as motoboys—currently held in Chad, assuring their cases would be resolved favorably.
Allamaye Halina also highlighted ongoing roadblocks that continue to impede merchandise transport along the Douala-N’Djamena corridor. He tasked the Cameroonian minister with relaying these concerns to national authorities back home to accelerate corrective measures.
