Chad and Russia Strengthen Military and Diplomatic Ties

Chad and Russia have strengthened their military and diplomatic ties to ensure regional security, with an agreement on visa exemptions for diplomats and a participation in the Russia-Africa summit.

The two countries signed an agreement on July 14 at Moscow conference of foreign ministers, Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul and Sergueï Lavrov, aimed at increasing cooperation in defense and counter-terrorism efforts in the Sahel region.

Lavrov also discussed international issues, including tensions in Ukraine, accusing Kiev of terrorism in the Azov and Black Sea regions, and emphasizing the importance of Russian-African cooperation against terrorism.

Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby will attend the Russia-Africa summit in October at Moscow, reaffirming Chad’s commitment to this cooperation.
