Chad denies fresh accusations of destabilization plot against central african republic
In a strong rebuttal over the weekend, the Chadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by Ibrahim Adam Mahamat, spokesperson, categorically denied claims alleging that N’Djamena is orchestrating a destabilization campaign targeting the Central African Republic.
The Chadian diplomatic corps dismissed these claims as part of a deliberate smear campaign aimed at tarnishing Chad’s reputation and undermining its diplomatic ties with its neighbor, the Central African Republic.
In an unusually firm statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned what it described as “a malicious disinformation campaign” and called on those responsible to exercise restraint. It also urged media outlets and social media users to prioritize verified facts over unverified claims.
“The Republic of Chad has never been, is not, and will never be involved in any subversive activity targeting a neighboring state,” the ministry emphasized, reaffirming its commitment to the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference.
Chad’s leadership, led by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, has consistently underscored the importance of regional stability, asserting that “the peace and security of the Sahel cannot be separated from the stability of Chad.”
Despite these denials, Chad has faced repeated accusations from other African nations, particularly in Central and East Africa, of covertly supporting various armed factions. These allegations have notably surfaced in connection with the ongoing conflict involving the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, which began in April 2023.
