This visit underscores the ongoing, regular consultations between Presidents Denis Sassou N’Guesso and Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi. Both leaders are committed to strengthening bilateral cooperation and expediting the implementation of high-impact integration projects.

Central to these discussions was the proposed Brazzaville-Kinshasa road-rail bridge. This ambitious infrastructure initiative is recognized as one of the most transformative undertakings in the sub-region. It will strategically link the world’s two closest capital cities, significantly enhancing the flow of people and goods while boosting commercial exchanges within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The two heads of state also reiterated their dedication to solidifying their partnership in the energy sector. Their focus includes the ‘Energy Friendship Loop,’ a project designed to interconnect the sub-region’s electrical grids. This vital endeavor aims to improve electricity supply and foster economic development across the area.

In line with this vision, an agreement was formally signed to govern the establishment of this energy interconnection. A key component of this accord is the development of a massive hydroelectric dam project on the Likouala aux Herbes river, boasting an impressive installed capacity of 12,900 megawatts. This collaborative venture, spearheaded by Congo, the RDC, and Angola, seeks to position Central Africa as a major hub for energy production.

Beyond economic considerations, Presidents Denis Sassou N’Guesso and Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi continued their consultations on pressing security challenges and stability issues impacting the Great Lakes region and Central Africa. Both leaders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to dialogue and enhanced cooperation as indispensable tools for preserving peace, which is crucial for the development of both nations and the broader sub-region.
