The evening celebration at the French Residence in Niamey unfolded with the traditional playing of both national anthems, setting a tone of mutual respect and solidarity. Ambassador Éric Gérard took the podium to deliver a speech emphasizing the enduring friendship between Niger and France.

He reflected on the significance of the 14th of July for France, highlighting the core principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity that define the French Republic. The ambassador also paid tribute to veterans present at the event, acknowledging their contributions to the historical bonds between the two nations.

Strengthening cooperation across sectors

« This friendship is built every day through honest dialogue and mutual trust, » the ambassador remarked, underscoring the importance of transparency and sincerity in bilateral relations. He went on to detail the active 39 joint projects spanning critical sectors such as water management, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment initiatives.

The ambassador pointed to recent high-level engagements as key milestones in the evolving partnership, including the January meeting between the heads of state in Paris and the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi, where Niger was among 49 participating nations.

He reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Niger’s Tchad Connexion 2030 development plan, a roadmap designed to propel the country toward sustainable growth and prosperity.

The event concluded with a collective recognition of the deep and meaningful ties that continue to shape the relationship between Niger and France, fostering hope for a future built on shared progress.
