Forum économique gabonais : un élan vers la transformation économique

« My ambition is to see the Gabonese Federation of Enterprises (FEG) recognized not just as a defender of businesses, but primarily as a catalyst for their success. » These were the words of Alain Claude Kouakoua, President of the FEG, during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) on June 27, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès in Libreville.

This high-level gathering, which convenes policymakers and international partners, serves as a critical platform to address Gabon’s pressing economic challenges and unlock new opportunities for growth. Kouakoua emphasized the indispensable role of robust enterprises in national development, asserting that businesses are not peripheral actors but the driving force behind progress. « No country has ever achieved sustainable development without strong enterprises, » he stated.

State commitment to private sector support

Echoing this vision, Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier, Vice President of the Republic, reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for the private sector. « The state will fulfill its obligations to ensure that public finance reforms are implemented in a timely manner, allowing businesses to receive their due without delay, » he declared. His remarks underscored a shared goal: to cultivate a diversified economy, reducing reliance on raw material exports and fostering industrialization.

The GEF, now in its second edition, stands as a testament to Gabon’s commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration between the public and private sectors. By aligning economic policies with business needs, the forum aims to create an environment where innovation and entrepreneurship can thrive, paving the way for a more resilient and competitive national economy.
