The transfer saga involving highly sought-after Ivorian winger Yan Diomandé has taken a significant turn in recent hours. While reports suggested his preference for joining Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig has made it unequivocally clear they have no intention of letting him depart.

Yan Diomandé has been in exceptional form, building on a strong season with RB Leipzig with an impressive start to the World Cup. This stellar performance has naturally attracted considerable attention, with Liverpool reportedly making him a top target. However, despite whispers of the Ivorian winger favoring a move to PSG, potentially bringing him closer to the reigning double European champions, Marcel Schäfer, the German club’s sporting director, has poured cold water on the Parisian club’s aspirations.

Leipzig dismisses PSG’s approach for Diomandé

Our stance is absolute: Yan Diomandé will be playing for RB Leipzig next season. We are not open to negotiation on this matter! We are fully aware of his immense talent. Certainly, if Yan maintains his current trajectory, the opportunity for him to advance his career to a new level will arise, but that will not happen this year. Fundamentally, he is bound by a four-year contract, and we retain full control. These recent developments primarily serve as a testament to his outstanding performances, nothing more, nothing less. Should we fail to reach an agreement, so be it; he still has four years remaining on his contract. Therefore, I reiterate: Yan Diomandé will remain a Leipzig player,” Schäfer firmly stated.

“Our intention is clear: Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next year”

For his part, Yan Diomandé adopted a much more ambiguous tone regarding his future during a recent press conference. “You are informing me of this. I don’t have internet, I don’t have Instagram, I don’t have TikTok. It’s my agent who handles discussions with the club; I have no information. I prefer not to discuss this, even with my agent, because playing in a World Cup is a rare opportunity that comes every four years, and I must seize it. My focus is on making history with my country and giving my absolute best. My dream is to represent my nation. I’ve deleted Instagram, I don’t use TikTok. I can’t see anything. My agent will manage everything else. For me, the paramount concern is concentrating on the World Cup and leaving a legacy,” he explained.
