The President of the Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, welcomed Libreville’s mayor, Eugène Mba, yesterday at the Palais Rénovation. This marks the second such meeting between the two leaders since their initial discussion on April 28, focusing on the consistent monitoring of local governance performance, evaluating expected outcomes from municipal administrations, and strengthening collaboration between national and local authorities.

During the session, Mayor Mba presented a comprehensive progress report on the initiatives assigned to him since assuming office on April 24. He also outlined a restructured organizational framework for the City Hall. Key topics included transformative urban projects such as modernizing public spaces, developing new parking facilities, creating green and botanical zones, addressing unauthorized public land occupation, and upgrading neighborhood infrastructure. The potential of digitizing municipal services was also highlighted.

President Oligui Nguema emphasized the urgent need to enhance urban sanitation, stressing that cleanliness remains a top priority. He called for intensified efforts to improve household waste collection systems across the capital.

Reaffirming his commitment to a modern and appealing Gabon, the Head of State underscored that Libreville, as the nation’s showcase, must meet international benchmarks in urban planning, local governance, and public service quality. He urged Mayor Mba to demonstrate unwavering diligence, creativity, and efficiency in implementing the ongoing projects.
