Malian court sentences french diplomat to 20 years for state security breach
A French national, apprehended in August 2025 by the ruling military junta and accused of conspiring against state institutions, has been handed a conviction by the criminal chamber of the specialized anti-terrorism court.
Mali’s judicial system has imposed a 20-year prison sentence on a French intelligence agent, who held diplomatic immunity, following charges of “undermining state security” in the Sahelian nation currently governed by a junta. The individual had been held in detention in the capital, Bamako, for nearly ten months. The verdict was delivered by judicial authorities this Friday.
